Thank you for purchasing this CD-ROM. Concept of Cosmology of KYOTO As the imperial capital of Japan for some 1000 years, Kyoto (original name: Heiankyo) is the center stage of classical Japanese culture and the cradle of the modern Japanese mind. Its founding in 794 inaugurated the Heian period, one of the most brilliant and intriguing eras in world history. Today the outlook and spirit of the ancient capital is increasingly recognized as a key to the understanding of Japanese and East Asian civilization, throwing light on the roots of modern patterns and problems. Through the engaging medium of CD-ROM, Cosmology of KYOTO: Visual Mindscape Of Old Japan, brings the city to life as a zone of consciousness and a visual emblem of the past. Historical events are accurately recreated within the fascinating matrix of the Heian imagination, drawing on the era's rich legacy of art and literature.
